Bronze in the Bahamas!

Most of us imagine getting Bronze in the Bahamas would involve lots of lazing on a white sandy beach, reading a good book. But for one of New Zealand's top young swimmers, it meant putting together an amazing performance in the pool, when it counted.

Following a stand out performance at the 2017 Australian Age Group Championships, where she claimed both a Gold in the 400m Individual Medley and a Silver in the 200m Individual Medley, you could be forgiven for thinking that Hannah Bates had reached her goals for the year. But that's not Hannah.

Being selected to the 11 strong Swimming New Zealand team heading to the Bahamas for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2017, was an awesome achievement in itself, and it seems that this has only galvanised Hannah's resolve to be at the top of her game.

Hannah's trademark determination to put in her best performance everytime, resulted in a Bronze Medal winning performance, in the Women's 100m Butterfly, finishing in a 1:01.27.

Congratulations Hannah, what an outstanding achievement! We can't wait to see what comes next?!
