SCWC Talent ID and Development Squad Camps- Hard Work and Great Fun

The Canterbury Talent ID & Development squads had their second session of the year last Sunday with 63 swimmers in attendance.

It was a very busy session with Mikaela Norman leading the Development squad session with the assistance of coaches Charles Porter and Anya Veremyuk in a skills session working on streamlining technique acceleration underwater into breakouts. The T.I.D squad continued with their testing this time working on the 5x200 Fr Kick test, Medley turns skills assessed and their underwater speeds recorded by their lane coaches Felicity Lowen, Dave Prattley, Matt Houston, Reuben Lim and Pip White.

After the testing and skills work all the swimmers joined up into making 8 teams to race of in relay events and show how the skills they have worked on during the session cope under racing conditions. Racing in relay teams in Free ,medley, kick, pull, and some unorthodox co-ordination events there was some fast and exciting swimming and lots of noise as the teams gave all they had. It was great to see and hear all the swimmers working so well together, supporting and cheering everyone on.

Well done to the winning team of Cassandra Taylor, Wills Graham, Daniel Bridgman, Kylana Peauafi Symonds, Jordan Astley, Briar Annett, Caitlin Quayle, Tess Jenkins and coach Dave.

Results of the T.I.D squad testing will be up on the Swim Canterbury website soon.
