In Memory of a Life Member of the SCWC swimming comunity

Elsie Horner had a life-long involvement in swimming, which began in the early 1970's at the Sockburn Club. Elsie then moved to the Wharenui Swim Club and was the secretary for many years.

Her love of the sport then saw Elsie move to the Christchurch Amateur Swimming Club where she held the role of Secretary for 27 years

Elsie was a well known and respected figure on poolside. She was a tireless volunteer at swim meets- she loved to see the young swimmers come through and achieve their goals.

Elsie's favoured position on the pool deck was as Marshall and the swimmers had a great respect for Elsie and she attended all national and regional meets for over 20 years.

When Elsie retired from officiating at swim meets, she became a Life Member and was Patron of Swim Canterbury West Coast for many years, and continued to dedicate her time to various roles as a volunteer in the Governor's Bay area.

Swimming Canterbury West Coast wishes to extend its heartfelt sympathy to Elsie's family and friends- she will be dearly missed.
