Update from SCWC- Covid19

Good Morning All,

We hope this update finds you all safe and well in your bubbles.

With the Government announcement regarding any potential change to the Covid-19 Alert Level taking place on the 20th April, there is still some uncertainty around whether or not we will in fact see that level lowered to Alert Level 3, and what the specifics surrounding the restrictions at Level 3 may mean for our sport.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our entire swimming community, in particular protecting those swimmers, volunteers and family members who may be more susceptible to illness remains the key focus for the region and any recommendations that are made will be made with this focus in mind.

We hope that our members have been looking after themselves and each other over the past three weeks, and while we are all restricted by Level 4 lockdown conditions, there are a lot of resources out there for keep your body active and your mind sane. Here are some of the intiatives that have been helping to support our members!

Swimming NZ launched their Swimming at Home campaign which provides lots of fantastic advice for members on everything from health and nutrition, menatl health and support, as well as the nationwide Track you KMs programme to keep our nations community active and interactive. Regular updates are sent out via email and released on social media so make sure you check it out.

Swimming Canterbury West Coast, in partnership with Swimming Otago, Southland and Nelson-Marlborough have created The Ultimate Lockdown Challenge which currently has over 290 participants vying for the most minutes spent doing intentional exercise, and has prizes for both top scoring individuals and clubs. If you are a member on the SNZ Database you need to get involved in this- whether you are a swimmer, official, volunteer or administrator, every minute counts towards your and your club's total- CLICK ON THE LINK ABOVE AND GIVE IT A GO!

SCWC will provide our members with another update following the Government announcement on the 20th April, once we know what, if any changes this will make to the restrictions currently in place.

In the meantime, stay safe, stay active, be kind to one another.
